Dry Polishing Process
The advent of dry concrete polishing is the most significant advance in the industry and is our specialty. The advantages include allowing the grinding and polishing process to take place without the hassle of wet grinding and the associated mess.
Wet Polishing added Logistics and Concerns:
- Obtain a water source
- Collect the messy slurry
- Dispose of the waste water/sludge
*Some locales deem as hazardous
- Process typically requires a facility shut-
down
Dry Polishing ELIMINATES ALL of the above and:
- 98% of particulates are collected by high efficiency, filtration systems
- Process can take place without a facility shut-
down
In dry polishing the first series of grinding steps flatten the floor and remove the top layer of the concrete. Depending on the Aggregate Level chosen by the customer and the existing condition of the concrete, SPI will remove between 1/64” and 1/2” of concrete during this phase.
Next, SPI polishes the concrete up to the desired shine using a series of resin bonded diamond steps. The results range from a matte finish to a glossy shine based upon the client’s preference.
