Founded in 1988, Specialty Products is a family owned and operated business, based in Norfolk, Virginia. SPI entered the surface preparation market place as one of the first national distributors of portable shot-blasting systems, and DuPont StarBlast mineral blasting abrasives. From this base, SPI continues to expand its business to meet the demands for concrete and steel surface preparation technology, equipment, supplies and turn-key services.
Our facilities are centrally located in Hampton Roads with good access to major highways and include a 6,000 Sq Ft office building with an adjacent 16,000 Sq Ft freestanding warehouse.
With a background in surface preparation and a dedicated experienced staff that includes NACE certified coatings inspectors, we have the knowledge and expertise to help you complete your project quickly and efficiently. Our associates are available 24-hours a day, seven days a week and are committed to keeping our clients’ jobs on schedule.
Specialty Products actively supports and participates in SSPC, the Steel Structure and Painting Council, NACE, the National Association of Corrosion Engineers, ICRI, the International Concrete Repair Institute and STASR, the South Tidewater Association of Ship Repairers. With 85% of all coating failures a direct result of improper surface preparation, SPI has consistently focused its business on ensuring our customer’s job success through better surface preparation and installation methods. Continuing involvement in material manufacturer training and product education classes keep SPI’s field service personnel up to date with the latest methods for successful installations.
